Step by step
Shut off the water supply and drain the tank/bowl with a plunger and sponge.
Disconnect the supply line and unbolt the old toilet from the floor flange.
Remove the old wax ring and clean the flange thoroughly.
Set a new wax ring, lower the new toilet straight down, and bolt it in place.
Reconnect the supply line, turn on water, and check for leaks at the base.
