Step by step
  1. Open the door fully to access the hinge pins.

  2. Apply a few drops of household oil or silicone spray to each hinge pin.

  3. Work the door back and forth to distribute the lubricant.

  4. Wipe away any excess to avoid drips on flooring.

  5. Lubricate locksets and deadbolts with a dry graphite or PTFE lubricant, not oil.
