Step by step
Walk the deck and railing, checking for movement, soft spots, or rust streaks (fastener failure).
Replace popped or rusted screws/nails with corrosion-resistant deck screws.
For a warped board, pull it, flip or replace it, and re-fasten flat.
Tighten or replace loose railing post bolts - railings are a common fall hazard.
Check ledger board attachment to the house if the deck feels bouncy; call a pro if unsure.
