Step by step
Turn off power at the breaker and confirm with a voltage tester.
Remove the cover plate and unscrew the switch from the box.
Photograph wire positions, then disconnect the old switch.
Connect wires to the new switch matching the same terminals.
Screw the switch into the box, replace the plate, and restore power to test.
