Step by step
Clear the deck and sweep off debris.
Wash with a deck cleaner and, if needed, sand rough or splintered boards.
Rinse thoroughly and let the deck dry for at least 24-48 hours.
Apply stain with a brush, roller, or sprayer, working with the wood grain.
Let the first coat dry, then apply a second coat if the label recommends it.
