Step by step

  1. Press the TEST button on each GFCI outlet or breaker - power should cut off.

  2. Press RESET to restore power and confirm it comes back on.

  3. For AFCI breakers at the panel, use the built-in test button the same way.

  4. If a device won't reset or trips constantly, that indicates a wiring fault - call an electrician.

  5. Note any dead outlets after testing so you can restore/investigate them.
